United went after Baleba this week but here's the thing Brighton's asking price is absolutely ridiculous and they have zero intention of selling. This kid is crushing it with 84.47% passing accuracy, 169 dangerous attacks created and 3 goals from midfield. United desperately needs midfield reinforcement after landing Sesko but Brighton's playing hardball because they know what they have. Everyone involved understands this deal makes no sense financially. Dutch football executive leading Cyprus club APEA Akrotiri arrested for alleged sexual abuse of child athletes

  • football

submitted by /u/MC_Transparent [link] [comments]

[The Seoul Economic Daily] How could he coach without qualifications?! ... Why was coach Son Woong-jung's 'child abuse' suspension canceled?"

  • football

"The three-month suspension for Son Woong-jung, the head of the SON Football Academy who faced child abuse allegations, has been nullified. On the 28th, the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Sports Council held its '3rd Sports Fairness Committee' and canceled the 'three-month suspension decision' against Director Son Woong-jung. Previously, Director Son, along with Son Heung-yoon, the chief coach at the same academy, and another coach, Mr. A, were accused of physically and mentally abusing a child athlete during a training camp in Okinawa, Japan, in March of last year. Director Son is the father of South Korea's national football team captain Son Heung-min (Tottenham Hotspur), and Chief Coach Son is Son Heung-min's brother." The victim child's side had pursued legal action, claiming they were hit on the thigh with a corner flag, and subjected to verbal abuse and profanity. The child testified that after losing a match, they were instructed by chief coach Son Heung-yoon to run from the goalpost to the halfway line in 20 seconds. Failing to do so in time, they were hit while in a prone position. The child also stated that they were sworn at by Director Son for making mistakes during training, and were hit multiple times on the buttocks and calves by coach A, who also pulled their sideburns and hit them on the head. For the child abuse charges, they were each ordered by the Chuncheon District Court in October of last year to pay a fine of 3 million KRW and complete a 40-hour child abuse treatment program. The Gangwon Provincial Sports Council had previously deliberated and approved a three-month suspension for Director Son and Coach A, and a six-month suspension for chief coach Son Heung-yoon. According to the committee's explanation for canceling Director Son's suspension, his actions "were carried out before his registration as a coach with the Korea Football Association (KFA), so the relevant disciplinary regulations cannot be applied." According to sources in the sports community, Director Son reportedly registered as a coach in April of last year, after the abuse incident had occurred in March. However, the committee decided to reject the request for a re-examination of the suspensions for SON Football Academy's chief coach Son Heung-yoon and coach A, stating that their punishments were "lawful." The victim child's lawyer stated, "It's difficult to understand how he could operate a football academy and coach youth players as an unregistered coach for many years, and even participate in tournaments with coach qualifications." submitted by /u/Expert_Pianist_1444 [link] [comments]

How was Hansi Flick able to implement his ideas and achieve such success in such a short period of time with Barcelona?

  • football

Ideally, when teams hire new managers, it usually takes a certain amount of time to implement their ideas and vision into the team, and for the players to understand the tactics and how to execute them. Not to mention, managers usually buy players they need to fit their style and players that they personally want, and that process typically takes time as well. But how was Hansi Flick able to create such an instant impact with just a few signings, the only singing was Dani Olmo and Pau Vitor, and turn Barcelona into one of the most entertaining and fun teams to watch last season? What’s the secret behind it? How was Flick able to achieve such results in such a short period of time? submitted by /u/Creepy_Jackfruit8617 [link] [comments]

LaLiga Revenue Share Dilemma Around Their Two Giants

  • football

For supporters of La Liga clubs outside Real Madrid, Barça, and maybe Atlético Madrid, what would you call a fair revenue split compared to what exists now? Before 2015, Real Madrid and Barça negotiated their own broadcast deals, taking most of the revenue. The Spanish Royal Decree Law 5/2015 introduced collective selling, with 50% of the pot shared equally among all 20 clubs. The rest is divided by sporting merit over the past five seasons (25%) and by social and commercial reach—such as fan base, ticket sales, and contribution to TV value (25%). Even with a cap limiting the richest‑to‑poorest gap at 3.5 to 1, transitional rules allowed Madrid and Barça to keep earnings close to pre‑2015 levels. Their massive social and commercial reach and sporting success still ensures they dominate financially, leaving the other clubs to fight over the remainder, though it is still far more than they earned before 2015. Here is the dilemma: La Liga needs Madrid and Barça because they generate most of the revenue, so if they left for the Super League or another new league, the hit would be huge. Have they grown too big for Laliga to the point that no revenue‑sharing formula could avoid favoring them? There are also sleeping giants like Valencia CF and Athletic Club that could grow to Atlético Madrid’s revenue‑generating level of around €450–500 million and help strengthen the league overall, and they should be encouraged to do so. Ironically, the Luis Figo transfer saga in 2000 gave Madrid and Barça a surge in global visibility and revenue, contributing to the imbalance seen today and making it hard for other clubs to realistically catch up. submitted by /u/Ok_Barnacle_7200 [link] [comments]

Why Real Madrid want to sell Rodrygo?

  • football

In my opinion Rodrygo is one of the best wing attackers rn, but it seems Madrid dont like him for some reason, and now when Ancelloti left its the same, so its most likely that Perez dont like him and now want to sell him. At the same time Vini who was good until he became famous and started to act as idiot on and off the pitch is tolerated, Rodrygo was far better than Vini in many games last season simply because he is disciplined unlike Vini and most of the games he performed on same level. So club hate him for no reason, and its sad to see that, he grew up in that club, you would never see such disrespect in Barcelona when it comes to players who grew up in the club. submitted by /u/ChapterFirm6845 [link] [comments]
