Logan Canyon Scenic Byway
From Logan to Garden City, this byway parallels the Logan River through Logan Canyon, passing through dense forests, lush meadows, rugged rock formations and panoramic views. Each season brings a colorful show, especially in autumn.
Getting to the Byway: Ogden, UT From the Ogden train station, take I-15 north to Exit #364. Follow Hwy. 89/91 through Wellsville Canyon and into Cache Valley and downtown Logan. Hwy. 89/91 runs along Main Street in Logan. At 400 North and Main Street turn right (east) and continue on Hwy 89 to the mouth of Logan Canyon. Salt Lake City, UT Take I-15 North to Brigham City. Merge onto US-91 East to Logan. Turn on 400 N/ US-89 the Ranger Station where the byway begins. Navigating the Byway: ###Starting in Logan### * Start from the intersection of Main Street and 400 North in Logan. * Drive east on 400 North to Milepost 374.2 at Lady Bird Park Overlook. The Logan Ranger District Visitor's Center is located at this site. * Continue on this route (Highway 89) as it winds up the canyon. The Logan River parallels Hwy 89 much of the way. * About 45 minutes after you enter Logan Canyon, you will reach the Summit and soon see lovely Bear Lake. A visitor center here has information and brochures about the byway and the area. ###Starting at Bear Lake### * The northern portal begins in Garden City, on the shores of Bear Lake, at the junction of Highways 30 and 89. * Hwy 89 turns sharply right at the intersection with Hwy 30. Follow Hwy 89. The byway will climb a few miles up a steep and winding road. The Bear Lake Overlook Visitor Center is near the summit. The rest of the way through the canyon and into Logan is generally downhill. * You will emerge from the Canyon and climb a short rise to see southern Logan spread out before you. Once you reach the busy corner of Main Street and 400 North, you are at the end of the byway.
