Country Music Highway

The Country Music Highway is Eastern Kentucky's heritage route. The sites and sounds along the byway capture all aspects of the region's history, including Native American culture, pioneer settlement, coal mining, country music, crafts, architecture, the Civil War, and natural resources.

Getting to the Byway: Lexington, KY * Take I-64 east to Kenova. * Get on US-23 to enter the byway. Navigating the Byway: The Country Music Highway follows US 23 south from Ashland to Whitesburg. * The byway passes through Paintsville, Prestonsburg, and Pikeville. * South of Pikeville, US 23 joins with US 119. * At Jenkins, follow US 119 west to Whitesburg where the byway ends.
