You can also make sandwich cookies out of these for an extra decadent treat. Hot Apple Cider I made this for Thanksgiving, but it’s great for Halloween too. My hot apple cider is delicious to sip on during the cool weather. Serve it in a punch bowl on a table decorated with seasonal veggies like corn and squash. Apples are part of the “dirty dozen” list of fruits and veggies that absorb pesticides easily, so be sure to make this recipe with organic apple juice. If you buy organic apples and juice them yourself, even better!

SERVES 3-5 Ingredients large daikon (roughly 1 pound but size doesn’t really matter) tablespoons shoyu 1⁄4 cup mirin 2″–3″ strip kombu Directions Slice the daikon into 3⁄4″ rounds, and place them in a skillet in a single layer. Add water almost to cover the daikon. Add the shoyu, mirin, and kombu. Bring the liquid to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to very low, cover the pan, and simmer the daikon for 30 minutes, or until all liquid has been absorbed. I was so excited for 2025. I never make insipid resolutions, mostly because I usually derail by mid-February. This time, though, I was resolute: meditate, eat healthy, exercise more, read more, do more, and shift into fifth gear in my career. As a stand-up comedian, I’ve always used humor to navigate life’s obstacle course—but nothing prepared me for the unforeseeable detour up ahead. The new year started with a boom-erang. I spent New Year’s Eve in the hospital with my husband, who had just undergone a knee replacement. Not exactly the kind of New Year I’m accustomed to. Normally, I work every New Year’s Eve, which gives me the illusion that I’m manifesting abundance for the upcoming year. So, this clinical rerouting was upsetting. But I wanted to be there for my husband, who was feeling very dismayed. Plus, he looked sexy in his gender-neutral hospital gown. Irene Bremis and her husband | Courtesy Unwilling to let anything upend my goals, on January 1st I woke up and started listening to motivational meditations on Reloop. I was on fire for over two weeks—record scratch—until January 17th, when life pissed on my parade and I couldn’t see through the smoke. For six months, I’d been experiencing frequent bowel movements with occasional blood. I convinced myself it was IBS and hemorrhoids—because the show must go on, sweeties! But eventually, the blood became consistent. I tried Cologuard twice. The first box was expired, the second was invalid for “insufficient specimen.” (No comment.) So, I gave up on Cologuard and walked over to CVS, where I picked up a Second Generation FIT kit for $8. I went home, locked myself in the bathroom, and after the appointed time, looked down to see it had tested positive for cancer. I assumed it was just detecting blood, but it lit a fire under my ass to make an emergency appointment for a colonoscopy. I was over 50 and had never had one before. I thought it was futile—colon cancer doesn’t run in my family—but old age does. Plus, I’ve always had a visceral fear of anesthesia, especially since menopause brain had me forgetting the make and model of my own car. I even got tested for early-onset dementia, just to be sure. On January 17th, I walked into the doctor’s office. The nurse assured me that 98 percent of the time, a FIT test leads to nothing. Eager to drink the Kool-Aid, I followed them to the gurney. I was mid-sentence, asking the nurse to use a very light dose of… and I was out. The next thing I remember was waking up alone, farting like I’d never farted before. It took a while for anyone to come into the room, but eventually, my husband did. Within one minute, the doctor pulled him out. They were gone for what felt like fifteen dog minutes. When they returned, my husband looked like someone had broken into our safe, and the doctor had the discomforting look of a funeral director. He gently said, “We found something. It’s a mass.” Five centimeters, he said, forming a circle with his fingers. He explained they’d send it to the lab for biopsy and they’d call me with the pathology report. Three days later, the phone rang. My husband answered. His constipated poker face told me everything—I had cancer. I speculated how much time I had left, pondered all the unchecked things on my to-do list, and kept thinking: I don’t have time for cancer. I’M BUSY. After a week of inertia, I picked myself up and googled colon cancer survivors without chemo. The book Chris Beats Cancer popped up. Chris had colon cancer, underwent surgery, but skipped chemotherapy against his doctor’s urgency. The more I read, the more I knew chemo wasn’t for me. Chemo terrified me more than cancer did. The gastroenterologist referred me to a surgeon. He explained the tumor was large and in a precarious spot. He recommended three months of chemo, followed by surgery. That was the beginning of a series of dehumanizing procedures that left me sympathizing with anyone who’s ever claimed alien abduction. Then, as if the universe wanted to mock me, my sister texted to say our mother was being rushed to the hospital with a bowel obstruction. My surgeon overheard and blurted, “That’s colon cancer.” Sure enough, it was. Same size tumor, same surgery. She underwent genetic testing that showed it wasn’t hereditary—just a cruel coincidence. I thought who’s holding the voodoo doll? Was this stigmatic or a cruel coincidence? Meanwhile, my surgeon said a stoma was unavoidable if he operated. A scat fanny pack? I wasn’t prepared. He pushed chemo. My mind was already fixed. I plunged into research. Books, medical journals, survivor blogs, YouTube testimonies. Knowledge wasn’t just power—it was life. I changed my diet: raw cruciferous veggies, sprouts, juicing, Ezekiel bread, legumes, brown rice, fasting. EVERYTHING organic. I gave up red wine when I needed it most. I started a regimen of dandelion root, turkey tail, reishi, amla, curcumin, omega-3s. I tracked biomarkers—CEA, hsCRP, ctDNA. I found community: a 96-year-old nutritionist, an astrophysicist with a breakthrough supplement, friends who became “cancer sponsors,” and my church, where I hijacked the prayer group. I meditated, cut stress, and kept podcasting with Rachel Dratch. I kept my diagnosis private, not out of shame but out of sheer self-preservation. She pushed FOLFOX, a regimen from the ’90s. She told me I’d need a port—a small device under the skin for infusions. I prefer my Port in a glass, vintage 2011. Risks included infection, sepsis, embolisms. She promptly scheduled installation. When I asked if I could wait, she said it was inadvisable. Then she casually mentioned she’d be on vacation for two weeks but I could “always try MyChart.” Paging Dr. Casper. On the long ride home, I felt I’d signed up for something my body opposed. At home, I re-read the pamphlet. A dealbreaker: I wouldn’t even be able to share a bathroom with my husband because chemo urine is a biohazard. I imagined him in a Silkwood shower. I called to cancel the port, and I ghosted her. Later I learned she wasn’t even a full oncologist—just an underling. My surgeon admitted she was “inexperienced” and recommended someone else. But hospital politics meant no one wanted to “poach” patients. What about me!? Mean Girls with cancer, so I went out of network. Chemo was frightful to me. I believed my body could cure cancer, and chemo would harm me. I’d already been misdiagnosed with Lyme for eight years. My faith in medicine was malignant. Lifestyle, eating, meditation—my body’s real medicine. I researched until I found my dream oncologist, Dr. Ocean. Brazen, formidable, willing to think outside the box. Booked for months. I put her on my vision board. One week later, her secretary called: a cancellation. I knew it was fate. She respected my decision, ordered MRIs, and gave me no pushback. By then, two months had passed, but I was feeling better. I told her my bowel movements were ten years younger. My biomarkers were excellent. She was intrigued. Three days later, the MRI results came. I told my husband, “The only thing that would shock me is if it didn’t shrink.” I said it was 2.8 cm. We opened the file. Sure enough: 2.8. I’m psychic! My Doubting Thomas surgeon, skeptical as ever, scoped me again and looked stunned. “It’s 2.8 cm. It did shrink.” He showed me before-and-after footage, then said, “You look good.” Thanks? I got the green light for surgery, absent a stoma. SUCCESS. A month later, the surgery was done. I’M CANCER FREE. I’m grateful—for friends who became foxhole bitches, for Alicia who uses her platform, for my surgeon admitting chemo’s days are numbered. Immunotherapy is the future, though Big Pharma will find ways to patent and monetize it. I even looked into holistic cancer resorts. $150k a year. Rancid. The only thing you need is will…I’m not pushing my methods on anyone—I’m just sharing my road trip. For me, cancer was a blessing too. It forced me inward. It was terrifying, yes, but also empowering. My friend Carmen summed it up: “2025—a year you won’t forget, not because of anything that went wrong, but everything you did right.” Feckless C., you ain’t got nothing on me, SWEETIE! An exclusive report early Friday revealed that Wendy Osefo and her husband, Eddie Osefo, were booked into a Maryland jail on Thursday (October 9). The ‘Real Housewives of Potomac’ stars face multiple charges primarily centered on criminal fraud. What Charges Are Wendy & Eddie Osefo’s Facing? TMZ was the first to break the Osefos booking story. According to the outlet, Wendy faces 15 charges, including seven felonies. She’s accused of making false statements and/or giving misleading information, leading to fraud worth more than $300. US Weekly reports that a grand jury indicted her the same day she was booked. Additionally, Dr. Wendy Osefo allegedly lied to the police, picking up a one-count misdemeanor charge. Meanwhile, her husband Eddie Osefo faces 18 similar charges, including nine felonies, eight misdemeanors, and another misdemeanor, for lying to police. The couple was taken into custody in Westminster, Maryland, on Thursday, per the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office. An investigation reportedly found that Wendy and Eddie had “substantial debt.” Page Six reports that the Osefos were in the process of being released on Friday. They each reportedly have a $50,000 bond. What Did The ‘RHOP’ Couple Do? In April 2024, news surfaced about an alleged break-in at the Osefos’s home while they were on vacation in Jamaica. Reports claimed thieves stole luxury items such as jewelry and Birkin bags. Wendy Osefo eventually spoke out, saying she and her family felt “devastated and violated” but “blessed” that they weren’t home. More than a year later, officials accuse Osefos of staging the burglary and lying to collect insurance coins on top of refunds. Officials say the scheme began before the couple went on vacation. Local sheriff deputies already had suspicions when they pulled up to investigate the crime scene in the couple’s bedroom last April. At the time, they noted that the thieves’ entry point didn’t add up. A reportedly damaged window screen was lying on the home’s roof, but the bathroom window wasn’t locked. Also, there was no debris from the roof on the toilet, which thieves would’ve had to step on to get in and out the house. There was also a lack of evidence on the couple’s security footage. Documents related to this case state: “The Osefos had an ADT system and a ring camera. The Osefos activated the ADT alarm system upon leaving for vacation. During the time they were away, there was no motion detected inside the residence. There was activity, such as package deliveries, on the ring camera that was monitored remotely by the Osefos.” Their investigation reportedly revealed that the Osefos purchased and returned multiple items they later reported stolen. Although they received a full refund for the returned items, they still told police they were robbed of them. The value of those items was upwards of $20,000. For example, they claimed a Dior shirt valued at $1,450 was stolen. However, receipts proved the shirt was returned for a refund on January 14, 2023. Additionally, they reported a stolen Gucci leather belt, but cops discovered it was returned to the store two weeks after purchase in 2018 for a refund of $948.70. More Fraud Evidence Against The Couple Emails and social media were also dead giveaways of the scheme. TMZ reports that deputies clocked Wendy wearing a diamond anniversary ring she had reported stolen. How did they see it? She allegedly posted photos on Instagram on April 27, 2024, wearing the ring. Another piece of evidence? An email Eddie sent to Wendy Osefo on April 12, 2024. In it, he listed the items they later reported “stolen.” He also asked whether Wendy had any other high-value items they could add to the list. “I’m trying to get the total to exceed $423,000, which is our policy minimum,” Eddie wrote. US Weekly says cops executed a search and seizure warrant at Wendy and Eddie’s home at the time of their arrest. Deputies reportedly found at least 15 items that seem to be the same ones the couple claimed were lost to the burglary. Wendy and Eddie did push forward with insurance claims, as suggested in his email. He reported stolen items to two insurance companies. When asked if he had ever returned any items, he said no. Eddie also denied making more than one claim. Documents related to this fraud case say: “He was asked if he had other insurance but failed to disclose to Homesite and Jewelers that he was also making a claim with Travelers Insurance.” Also, Eddie and Wendy Osefo signed insurance statements claiming $2,500 in building damage and $450,000 in property loss. In Eddie’s first statement to Travelers on April 8, 2024, he claimed they both had their anniversary bands when the burglary happened. Two days later, though, he called back and added Wendy’s anniversary band to the claim. The company settled the claim for $25,380 and included the cost of the ring ($4,500) that Wendy still had in her possession. The couple claimed the same ring in another insurance filing with Jewelers Mutual Insurance. In signed letters from the Osefos, they listed 57 stolen items. The Osefos have not yet spoken out about their fraud charges. Candiace Dillard Bassett Reacts To Osefos’ Arrest Watch former ‘RHOP’ castmate Candiace Dillard Bassett share her initial response to the Osefos being booked on fraud charges. “I am floored, I am shocked, I’m said,” she said. Dillard questioned whether Wendy and Eddie are being “targeted” for their successful marijuana business. Despite Candiace’s comments below, the arrests are for way more money than $300. On Thursday (October 9), a judge dismissed the defamation lawsuit Drizzy filed against Universal Music Group (UMG) over the hit song, ‘Not Like Us.’ The federal official ruled that Kenny’s lyrics were opinion, per the Associated Press. The superstars traded shots from the booth for several rounds. Then, in May, Lamar put a nail in Drizzy’s metaphorical coffin with ‘Not Like Us.’ The song became a cultural phenomenon and ate the charts up—same energy for the music video he released in July. Even celebrities once tight with Drake, such as LeBron James, picked sides. And, spoiler alert, it often wasn’t the Canadian rapper’s! ‘Not Like Us,’ which calls out Drake by name, attacks him as “a colonizer” of rap culture. It also makes serious allegations about his sex life, including “I hear you like ’em young” — a claim Drake has rejected. This week, Judge Jeannette A. Vargas acknowledged in her written opinion that ‘Not Like Us’ explicitly branded Drake as a pedophile. However, Vargas said a reasonable listener could not have concluded that the song revealed objective facts about Drake. “Although the accusation that Plaintiff is a pedophile is certainly a serious one, the broader context of a heated rap battle, with incendiary language and offensive accusations hurled by both participants, would not incline the reasonable listener to believe that ‘Not Like Us’ imparts verifiable facts about Plaintiff,” Judge Vargas wrote. An aerial photo depicting Drake’s mansion doubles as the song’s cover art. The photo, per the judge, had “an overlay of more than a dozen sex offender markers,” but Vargas said it was “obviously exaggerated and doctored.” “No reasonable person would view the Image and believe that, in fact, law enforcement had designated thirteen residents in Drake’s home as sex offenders,” Judge Vargas wrote. Judge Vargas also pointed out that Drizzy, too, took low blows in the rap beef. Before ‘Not Like Us,’ she said Drake mocked Kendrick Lamar’s height and shoe size. Additionally, he questioned Lamar’s success in the April 2024 track ‘Push Ups.’ Meanwhile, Kendrick Lamar insulted Drizzy’s fashion sense that same month in ‘Euphoria.’ Judge Vargas wrote that the insults escalated from there, becoming “vicious, personal.” Considering the medium the rappers used to insult each other, Judge Vargas concluded that the average listener knows better. She said listeners would not consider a diss track “a product of a thoughtful or disinterested investigation, conveying to the public fact-checked verifiable content.” Per AP, Vargas wrote that ‘Not Like Us’ was “replete with profanity, trash-talking, threats of violence, and figurative and hyperbolic language, all of which are indicia of opinion.” A reasonable listener, she added, “would conclude that Lamar is rapping hyperbolic vituperations.” Drake’s Team & UMG Reacts To Lawsuit Dismissal After the decision, Drake’s legal team issued a statement: “We intend to appeal today’s ruling, and we look forward to the Court of Appeals reviewing it.” For context, Drizzy filed the lawsuit in January. It does not name Kendrick Lamar. Instead, the paperwork alleges Universal Music Group (UMG) intentionally published and promoted ‘Not Like Us,’ despite knowing the lyrics contained false and defamatory allegations. The lawsuit claims the song messed up his reputation and decreased the value of his brand. Additionally, Drake alleged that the song encourages listeners to use vigilante justice against him. He even blamed ‘Not Like Us’ for attempted break-ins and the shooting of a security guard at his Toronto home. UMG immediately denied the allegations. Interestingly, Universal Music Group is the parent record label for both Drake and Kendrick Lamar. It released a statement following the lawsuit dismissal. “From the outset, this suit was an affront to all artists and their creative expression and never should have seen the light of day,” UMG said. “We’re pleased with the court’s dismissal and look forward to continuing our work successfully promoting Drake’s music and investing in his career.” Mustard Shares THIS Post After Dismissal It’s no debate that ‘Not Like Us’ was one of 2024’s biggest songs. Even Judge Vargas described it as having a “catchy beat and propulsive bassline.” Outside of court, Kendrick Lamar’s diss won record of the year and song of the year at the Grammys. It also helped make this year’s Super Bowl halftime show the most-watched ever, as fans speculated whether Lamar would actually perform it. He did, but with altered lyrics and the acknowledgment of the UMG lawsuit! Mustard, who produced the diss, joined Kenny on the Super Bowl stage. He’s stuck by the artist’s rivalry with Drake. Zachary Quinto has a big medical mystery on his hands in an upcoming episode of Brilliant Minds, which introduces Jane Krakowski‘s chilling character. In Us Weekly‘s first look at the episode, which airs on Monday October 13, Oliver Wolf (Quinto) visits a patient who needs his medical help. Krakowski’s character is seen largely not speaking while Oliver examines the bruises on her body. “We are here to assess you,” he says. “Can you tell us where you are? What happened? Can you look at my pen light and follow it with your eyes?” Arianna (Krakowski) isn’t able to follow the light, which is when Oliver noticed a subtle message his patient was able to leave with some paper cranes. They were arranged on the floor to spell the word “help,” which concerned the doctor. Us Investigates How the New Slate of Medical TV Shows Differ From Each Other According to the official character description, Krakowski plays “a high-powered businesswoman who fights her conservatorship despite her family’s growing concerns.” Brilliant Minds, which premiered in September 2024, is inspired by the Oliver Sacks books The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat and An Anthropologist on Mars. The Real Housewives of Potomac star Wendy Osefo and husband Eddie Osefo have been arrested for fraud, Us Weekly confirmed. A grand jury indicted Wendy, 41, on insurance fraud, conspiracy insurance fraud and false statement to police officer on Thursday, October 9, according to court documents obtained by Us. Eddie, 41, and Wendy were booked in Westminster, Maryland, on Thursday, according to court records. The couple was released on Friday, October 10, after posting $50,000 bond each, a rep for the Carroll County Detention Center confirmed to Us. “Dr. Wendy Osefo and her husband, Edward Osefo, are back home safely with their family and in good spirits,” a rep for the couple told Us in a statement. “They are grateful for the outpouring of concern and support from friends, fans, and colleagues. The Osefos, alongside their legal team, look forward to their day in court. At this time, they respectfully ask for privacy as they focus on their family and the legal process ahead.” TMZ was the first to report the news. Wendy Osefo Addresses Rumors About 'Real Housewives of Potomac’ Season 10 The couple’s arrests came after the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a reported burglary at their home in April 2024, according to the docs. Wendy and Eddie claimed that they had gone on a trip to Jamaica and came back to find their bedroom and closets ransacked, as well as several designer handbags and jewelry stolen. To go in or out of that window, one has to step on the toilet. The toilet lid was down and had no debris on it. When Sheriff’s office personnel stepped onto the roof and back into the home, they tracked roof ‘grit’ back inside,” the docs read. The docs continue, “The Osefos had an ADT system and a ring camera. The Osefos activated the ADT alarm system upon leaving for vacation. During the time they were away, there was no motion detected inside the residence. There was activity, such as package deliveries, on the ring camera that was monitored remotely by the Osefos.” Eddie gave statements to two insurance companies regarding a list of stolen items. Wendy Osefo Carroll County Detention Center “He was asked whether any of the items on the list had been returned, which he denied. He was asked if he had other insurance but failed to disclose to Homesite and Jewelers that he was also making a claim with Travelers Insurance.” Eddie and Wendy both signed statements claiming $2,500 for the building and $450,000 in property. In his original claim submitted to Travelers on April 8, 2024, Eddie stated that he and his wife were wearing their anniversary bands when the loss occurred. However, Eddie called Travelers two days later and said he needed to update their claim because his wife’s gold diamond anniversary band was missing. Eddie Osefo Carroll County Detention Center That same day, Travelers Insurance settled the claim for $25,380, which included the replacement price of the band ($4,500). After their initial claim in April 2024, both Wendy and Eddie signed and submitted letters to Jewelers Mutual Insurance claiming that the burglary occurred and items were reported stolen. They provided the insurance company with an initial list of 57 stolen items, including Wendy’s gold diamond anniversary band that had been reported stolen in the Travelers claim. 'RHOP’ Star Karen Huger’s DUI Scandal, Jail Time: Everything to Know On April 22, 2024, Eddie was interviewed and did not make any mention of the jewelry claim or payout with Travelers. Deputies were suspicious of the circumstances surrounding the burglary, as well as records from stores where some of the allegedly stolen items were purchased and the couple’s social media and email accounts. An investigation determined that numerous items that the Osefos claimed were stolen had been purchased and then returned to the store, where a full refund was provided prior to the alleged burglary. These items were valued in excess of $20,000. A Dior shirt was listed as a stolen item valued at $1,450, but the shirt had returned on January 14, 2023, for a refund. A Gucci leather wallet was purchased in 2018 and returned two weeks later for a refund of $948.70. Additionally, while reviewing Wendy’s Instagram account, deputies observed photos of the reality star prior to the burglary wearing a diamond anniversary band on her left finger. This ring was reported stolen in the burglary. After the reported burglary, on April 27, 2024, Wendy was seen wearing the same ring on her left finger. Real Housewives’ Legal Troubles Through the Years Email records obtained by deputies showed that on April 12, 2024, Eddie emailed the list of reportedly stolen items to Wendy. The email asked if there were “additional high-value items we can add to this inventory listing (i.e., Chanel shoes, etc.)? I’m trying to get the total to exceed $423,000 which is our policy maximum.” At the time of their arrest, a search and seizure warrant was executed for Wendy and Eddie’s home. Deputies found at least 15 items that appear to be the same ones they claimed to be stolen during the alleged burglary. The investigation found that the Osefos were “burdened by substantial debt.” Wendy has been a cast member on RHOP since season 5 in 2020. Bravo Captures Karen Huger’s Release From Jail in ‘RHOP’ Sneak Peek “I know some of the ladies. We run in similar social circles, and I sit on some of the same nonprofit boards,” the political commentator told The Washington Post of her casting in August 2020. “Since that was the case, it was a very organic relationship, and I was approached to do the show.” Wendy’s arrest comes shortly after her RHOP costar Karen Huger was released from prison in September following her 2024 DUI arrest. Huger, 62, had initially been sentenced to two years in prison with one year suspended, meaning she would serve one year behind bars, but she was released after serving just over six months. Wendy reacted to Huger’s sentence in an exclusive interview with Us in February. “I was definitely shocked, but I’m just keeping her in my prayers because I’m sure it’s a very difficult time for her,” she told Us.

The boxing drama Southpaw, the horror movie Cat People and the Bond flick Die Another Day all offer distinct pleasures that have gone underappreciated throughout the years. ‘Southpaw’ (2015) When you think of boxing movies, you probably think of any of the Rocky or Creed movies and maybe Raging Bull. But the subgenre has dozens of high-quality films, and a more recent one is Antoine Fuqua’s Southpaw. Jake Gyllenhaal stars as Billy Hope, a boxing champ with a loving wife, Maureen (Rachel McAdams) and daughter, Leila (Oona Laurence). After a tragic accident, Billy’s life spirals out of control, causing him to lose his family, wealth and nearly his life. 9 New Movies to Watch This Weekend on Netflix, Prime Video and More (Oct. 10-12) When a young boxer, Miguel (Miguel Gomez), challenges him to a fight, Billy sees it as an opportunity to regain his old life. But what makes the movie worth seeing is Gyllenhaal’s stripped-down, intense performance. Billy’s downfall is brutal to watch, and Gyllenhaal makes you feel every ounce of pain his character endures. That’s what makes Billy’s comeback so satisfying to watch – it feels authentic and earned. Southpaw is streaming on Prime Video. ‘Cat People’ (1982) Irena Gallier (Nastassja Kinski) arrives in New Orleans with a mission – to find her long-lost brother Paul (Malcolm McDowell), whom she hasn’t seen in years. Once she finds him, she notices something is off with him. He disappears for weeks at a time and then reappears without any explanation. Meanwhile, a wild black panther is stalking and killing the city’s residents in increasingly violent ways. Irena begins to believe Paul is the killer panther, but is she projecting her own fears onto a relative she barely knows? A loose remake of the 1942 film of the same name, Cat People is visceral, sexual and often extremely violent. It’s also very good, and it’s the rare horror movie that uses the genre to explore taboo eroticism in a non-exploitative manner. Kinski is at her youthful best as the naive Irena, and the film’s Giorgio Moroder-scored soundtrack really gets the blood pumping. One of the best songs of the ‘80s, David Bowie’s “Cat People (Putting Out Fire),” originated here, and it’s the perfect complement to a movie that seems perpetually in heat. Cat People is streaming on Prime Video. ‘Die Another Day’ (2022) James Bond has appeared in more than 30 movies, and most of them have been good. A few have been stinkers, and one frequently ranked at the bottom of the 007 film list is Die Another Day, which was Pierce Brosnan’s fourth and last appearance as the British super spy. It’s silly, frequently stupid and often incoherent. It’s also wickedly fun, with a breathless, “what the hell?” pace, a trio of memorable villains and Halle Berry wielding a gun in a bikini. Can you get any more James Bond than that? 28 Must-Watch Movies on Prime Video Right Now (September 2025) The movie’s overstuffed plot involves Bond pursuing Colonel Moon (Will Yun Lee), a North Korean dictator who is stashing away North African diamonds for mysterious purposes. His pursuit leads him to Jinx (Berry), an NSA agent who is investigating a gene therapy clinic that can alter a person’s appearance. What does one have to do with the other? That’s what Bond wants to find out, and he’ll travel to the ends of the world – namely, Iceland – to find out. Toby Stephens, Rosamund Pike, Madonna, Pierce Brosnan in Die Another Day MGM/courtesy Everett Collection Die Another Day doesn’t make any sense, but the movie never really bothers to be as realistic as, say, the Jason Bourne movies. This is a film that embraces silliness with open arms, like when Bond drives in an invisible car across an iceberg or a Music-era Madonna randomly showing up as a fencing instructor. It’s a welcome break from the grave seriousness of the later Daniel Craig movies and shows the sillier side of the iconic spy hero we all know and love. Die Another Day is streaming on Prime Video.

Angelina Jolie is looking back on her personal decision to undergo a double mastectomy and ovary removal. “I did choose to have that [surgery] because I lost my mother and my grandmother very young,” Jolie, 50, told Hello! in a Tuesday, October 7, profile, referring to her relatives’ respective cancer battles. “I have the BRCA gene, so I chose to have a double mastectomy a decade ago.” The BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes help produce proteins to help repair an individual’s DNA, according to the NIH’s National Cancer Institute. Mutations of the genes are often linked to an increased risk of breast, ovarian and other types of cancer. “I’ve also had my ovaries removed, because that’s what took my mother. Those are my choices,” Jolie told Hello! on Tuesday. “I don’t say everybody should do it that way, but it’s important to have the choice. I don’t regret it.” Angelina Jolie Honors Her Late Mother With Call for Cancer Screenings Jolie’s mother, Marcheline Bertrand, died in 2007 at the age of 56 after battling both breast and ovarian cancer. Former Vanderpump Rules stars Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney’s legal battle over their sandwich shop, Something About Her, is set to be dismissed months before they were scheduled for trial, Us Weekly can exclusively report. On October 2, Penny Davidi, who filed suit against the reality stars in 2024 for breach of contract, informed the court she was dismissing all claims. She noted the dismissal was conditional, and certain conditions are expected to be met by the parties. (The details of those conditions have not been made public.) Davidi’s decision to toss the case comes after the judge scheduled the trial to start on March 16, 2026. In her lawsuit, Davidi claimed she was hired in 2023 to work as a chef at Madix, 40, and Maloney’s restaurant in West Hollywood. In court documents, she claimed the duo did not follow the terms of their original agreement. She said she was promised a 10 percent cut of Something About Her, which opened that same year, in her role as COO/Director of Culinary. Davidi claimed she was to be paid $7,500 a month in salary that would increase up to $10,000 over time. She claimed Madix and Maloney, 38, broke the deal by refusing to pay her the proper cut. In response, the Bravo stars denied all allegations of wrongdoing. They asked the court to dismiss the complaint completely. Former NBA star Paul Pierce was arrested late Tuesday, October 7, on suspicion of misdemeanor DUI after police allegedly found him asleep behind the wheel on a Los Angeles freeway. According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded around 10:40 p.m. to a multi-vehicle crash on northbound U.S. Highway 101 near Universal City. When lanes reopened, officers noticed a Range Rover stopped south of the collision scene. “When officers approached, they found the driver, later identified as Paul Pierce, asleep at the wheel,” the CHP said in a statement. “Officers noted signs of alcohol impairment and conducted a DUI investigation.” Authorities said Pierce appeared to show signs of alcohol impairment. He was detained and taken to a nearby CHP station, where he underwent a field sobriety test. Pierce was booked on suspicion of misdemeanor DUI and later released, pending review by the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office. Former NBA Star Gilbert Arenas Breaks Silence After Gambling Arrest The CHP said the former basketball star was “cooperative” with officers throughout the arrest process. On Friday, October 10, Pierce issued a statement via Threads, claiming the situation happened because he is “old and tired.” “Imagine being stuck in stand still traffic for 45 mins and falling asleep,” he wrote. “I’m old, I’m tired, and I fell asleep. I’m good y’all thanks for the love.” He posted a photo alongside the statement showing him stuck in traffic behind multiple cars. He did not address the alleged misdemeanor DUI charges. No Doubt is reuniting once again — this time for a Las Vegas residency. Former bandmates Gwen Stefani, Tony Kanal, Tom Dumont and Adrian Young are set to headline a six-show No Doubt Live at Sphere residency in May 2026. The shows will be the group’s first extended run of performances in nearly 14 years. “The opportunity to create a show at Sphere excites me in a new way,” Stefani, 56, said in a press release. “The venue is unique and modern and it opens up a whole new visual palette for us to be creative. Doing it with No Doubt feels like going back in time to relive our history, while also creating something new in a way we never could have imagined.” The rock band, fronted by Stefani, was formed in 1986. The group eventually went on hiatus in 2008 but reunited soon after. By 2013, the musicians disbanded for good. Bassist Kanal, 57, meanwhile, is equally excited to reunite with his bandmates on the Sphere stage. (The Sphere shows will take place on May 6, May 8, May 9, May 13, May 15 and May 16 of next year. Gwen Stefani ‘Literally’ Had to Explain What No Doubt Was to Her Son “I can’t wait to get on stage again,” Kanal said in a statement. “There is a beautiful energy that happens when we play together, an electricity I have felt through all of our years. To be able to leave it all on the table each night and take our fans on the insane journey that is Sphere is beyond our wildest dreams.” Stefani, Kanal and their fellow musicians last performed together during the Coachella Music and Arts Festival in April 2024. I sent some references to the band, and we thought this would be a cool way to have something similar but with our individual styles at the same time.” Kanal, for his part, later exclusively told Us that it was electric taking the Coachella stage with his No Doubt crew. Tony Kanal: No Doubt's Coachella Reunion Felt 'Amazing' “It’s hard to put into words how incredible it was,” he said later that month. “It was just an amazing experience for all six of us. We haven’t played in almost nine years. We prepped really well for the show. We rehearsed a lot and put a lot of time into the production. So, we were ready to go.” He continued, “When you play a festival, you don’t know what the response is going to be. Festival crowds can be tricky, but it was everything we hoped for. It was pretty spectacular.” Kanal also thought it was “incredible” being back in the rehearsal studio with Stefani, Dumont, 57, and Young, 56. “I felt like going into this, I was 16 again — when the band started — and it just felt like that same type of energy that we were bringing to it,” Kanal concluded. But it’s not all about blood and gore on HBO Max. In addition to Bring Her Back, Watch With Us has selected two other underrated movies for you to watch this weekend: the erotic drama Babygirl with Nicole Kidman and the camp classic Showgirls. These three movies are wildly different, but each delivers a satisfying experience you won’t soon forget. ‘Bring Her Back’ (2025) After their father dies, Andy (Billy Barratt) and his stepsister Laura (Sora Wong) are sent to live with the eccentric Laura (Sally Hawkins), who also fosters a mute boy named Oliver (Jonah Wren Phillips). Andy doesn’t trust Laura, who seems too good to be true. His suspicions are raised when Oliver seems to warn him to leave his new home right away. But can Andy trust Oliver, who seems to have a good reason to want Laura all for himself? Or is Laura truly a wicked foster mother up to no good? 9 New Movies to Watch This Weekend on Netflix, Prime Video and More (Oct. 10-12) Directed by Danny and Michael Philippou, Bring Her Back is a moody horror movie with just the right balance of realism and fantasy. The acting, particularly by Hawkins, is terrific, and there’s a genuine sense of menace that hooks you in from the beginning. Bring Her Back takes some unexpected turns in its third act, but the climax is surprisingly moving in a macabre kind of way. Bring Her Back is streaming on HBO Max. ‘Babygirl’ (2024) Nicole Kidman stars as Romy Mathis, a powerful CEO who has a solid marriage and two devoted teenage daughters. But Romy has one problem she can’t seem to fix — her sex life stinks! The solution appears when Sam (Harris Dickinson), a young intern at her company, begins to seduce her. They soon engage in a dominant/submissive relationship, which seems to please them both. But how long can it last without anyone from work — or Romy’s family — noticing? Babygirl is a thought-provoking drama that gives Kidman one of her best roles ever. As Romy, she explores all aspects of a complex personality — a woman who wants to be in control in most areas of her life, and wants to relinquish that control in the bedroom. What’s so illuminating about Babygirl is that it doesn’t shame any of its characters for how they feel about themselves or each other. It’s a liberating movie about a truly liberated woman, and it makes no apologies about the difficult subject matter it portrays so well on screen. Babygirl is streaming on HBO Max. ‘Showgirls’ (1995) You’ve probably heard that Taylor Swift just released her new album, The Life of a Showgirl, which dominated Spotify playlists and movie theaters worldwide last weekend. So what better way to celebrate than by watching a movie that made the word “showgirl” well-known in every household in 1995? The NC-17-rated Showgirls may not have obvious similarities to Taylor’s PG-13 album, but it’s not as different as you might think. Saved by the Bell alum Elizabeth Berkley stars as Nomi Malone, who wants to achieve her American dream — to become a Las Vegas showgirl. To do that, however, she’ll have to work her way from sleazy strip clubs, which she does with the help of good friend Molly (Gina Ravera). Nomi finally snags a part in a showgirl revue, but she instantly locks horns with the show’s lead star, Cristal (Gina Gershon). Nomi wants to be the best, and the only one in her way is Cristal. Like Taylor Swift's 'The Life of a Showgirl'? Then Watch These 3 Movies Now Campy and fun as hell, Showgirls has a notorious reputation for being dirty and bad. It’s neither; while there’s plenty of flesh on display, it’s not really titillating or erotic. Nomi’s naked ambition is what’s most revealing, and what drives the surprisingly tight narrative. Yes, the screenplay contains some groan-inducing one-liners, but the overall experience of watching Showgirls is truly unique. Showgirls is streaming on HBO Max.

Yellowcard took “a lot of steps” before finding their way to Travis Barker’s studio for their 11th studio album, Better Days. “It’s really special,”band member Sean Mackin told Us Weekly exclusively ahead of the album’s Friday, October 10 release. “There are so many people that believed in us and asked us to trust them. It led to these Better Days songs, and probably the best chapter of Yellowcard.” The record is a major step for the Florida-based band, who released (what was supposed to be) their final album back in 2016. The four-piece group — comprised with Mackin along with William Ryan Key, Josh Portman and Ryan Mendez — surprised fans with a reunion in 2022 ahead of Ocean Avenue’s 20th anniversary. Mackin, 46, told Us it was a “wonderful” step to get Yellowcard back together again before recording Better Days. “We were so lucky to find Travis Barker, because it was totally just the Rock Gods leading us that way. It was totally organic,” Key, 45, told Us, sharing that one of their cowriters mentioned to Barker, 49, that Yellowcard was writing some new music. Barker was quick to express interest in working with the band. Joe Brady “He just had a way of dissolving, diffusing, clearing the room of that sense of pressure, sense of tension, of uncertainty,” Key continued. “You just get in there and jam. It’s been a long time since we’ve made a record like that, where we sit down and write a whole song, we don’t demo it, we don’t live with it, we don’t overthink it. We just sit in there [with] whatever the energy is that day, whatever the vibe is that steers the direction of the music we’re making.” Key said it was “awesome” being in a creative space like that because it alleviated any sense of pressure for a comeback. “We were so relaxed and we just enjoyed it so much,” Key continued. “It’s been a long time since we’ve made a record in that way. You can hear it. I think it just sounds like the most core source material Yellowcard is to people, and we just found it again — with a little help from our friends.” Fall Music Preview 2025: 18 Picks From Taylor Swift to Doja Cat and More Barker also facilitated both collaborations on the record — “Love Letters Lost” featuring Matt Skiba from Alkaline Trio and “You Broke Me Too” featuring Avril Lavigne. When Key noted that “You Broke Me Too” sounded like “an early 2000s Avril Lavigne monster ballad,” Barker said they should get her on the song. “[He] sends a text to me that says, ‘Merry Christmas,’ and it’s a board-bounce of the song with Avril singing on it,” Key recalled. Barker FaceTimed Key with Skiba earlier this year and “Love Letters Lost” was born. “He was just so gracious and so kind in the way he was talking about the song, and how excited he was to be a part of it,” Key said of Skiba. “It was a really unbelievable thing to process, listening to our music with Matt Skiba singing and Travis Parker playing drums. It’s a lot to get your head around.” Mackin added, “Big full circle, dreams do come true kind of a thing.” Better Days is out now.

Amazon MGM Studios revealed that the film, simply titled Melania, will be released exclusively in theaters in the U.S. and select territories overseas on January 30, 2026. It’s unknown when the film will hit Prime Video, where it is set to exclusively stream. Produced with the first lady’s participation, Melania will later be accompanied by a three-part docuseries, which will follow Trump, 55, on her travels between Trump Tower in New York City, Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach and the White House in Washington, D.C. (President Donald Trump officially returned to office in January after winning the 2024 election.) Variety reported on Thursday, October 9, that Amazon allegedly paid $40 million for the rights to the doc.
